Who we are …

Rooted in history, alive in the Spirit, and committed to transforming lives—Henderson United Methodist Church has been a place of worship, community, and service since 1830. What began as a faithful gathering under a humble brush arbor has grown into a vibrant church family still guided by that same Holy Spirit.

Though our surroundings have changed, our mission remains the same: to share God’s love, one person at a time, and to build a better future grounded in faith, compassion, and hope.

Whether you're seeking a church home or simply a place to breathe and belong, we invite you to walk this journey with us. Together, we move forward—closer to God, closer to one another, and closer to the world God calls us to serve. Please join us on our journey.

What we believe

At Henderson United Methodist Church, we believe in a loving God who created all people and calls us into relationship—with the Divine, with each other, and with the world around us. We are rooted in the Methodist tradition.

Following the example of Jesus, we seek to live with compassion, practice justice, and grow in grace. Henderson United Methodist Church is a warm and caring community dedicated to welcoming all folks. Whether you are married, divorced, widowed, single, partnered, with children or without, our welcome knows no boundaries of age, race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, religious affiliation, or economic status. We believe that God delights in the diversity of creation, and so do we.

We are continuing to learn and grow in our faith with weekly Sunday Schools (September - May) and periodic Bible and faith studies.

All are welcome here, just as you are.

Sharing God’s Love to Build a Better Future

Through service …

  • Twice each week we feed our neighbors in need through by delivering well balanced meals to the home of home bound and hurting members of our community. These “Happy Meals” are prepared and delivered by church members with our love and prayers.

Loving our neighbors financially …

  • We support a variety of community organizations such as Heart Haven, Callao Fire and Rescue Squads, the Smith Point Sea Rescue, The Haven and the Upper Lancaster Community Food Pantry.

  • We provide Scholarships each year for post-secondary education.

  • We support our Veterans with an annual fundraising drive and a worship service, providing funds for the local American Legion.

We are always looking for new ways to live out faith. Currently, as part of being good stewards to the earth, we are working with Trex to recycle used plastic bags and wraps to create a special bench made of that material.
